Deadlines! I hate deadlines. If you fall behind on what you need to do before the deadline, then there is always a mad rush to get it completed. Like yesterday, we had the Transfer Deadline in the Football, and of course there was a massive rush to finish up deals! That was a crazy day. Not for me pre-say, but all the football teams I guess it was. The major talking point was Torres going to Chelsea and Carroll going to Liverpool. Luis Suarez also went to Liverpool but let’s focus on Torres and Carroll for now.
Torres, a few days ago said he wanted to leave Liverpool to go to Chelsea after they offered £35M and he quickly handed in a transfer request. (This is the guy who said in early January he was committed to the club.) Liverpool declined the offer. Chelsea kept offering and offering and then Liverpool finally said what they were looking for… 50 MILLION! Or, 42 Million and Anelka. Then it came, the last day of the transfers and out of no where, Liverpool put a bid in for Andy Carroll from Newcastle United! W.T.F!
They (Liverpool) offered £30M for him and that was rejected straight away. They then offered £35M and was once again rejected. Andy Carroll’s move. He handed in a transfer request which was accepted but not willingly. So Carroll was pretty much in the bag, now, what to do with Torres? “Oooo £50M just got offered? DONE DEAL!” Liverpool sold their Number 9 Striker straight up for 50Mill cash. Who will fill the Number 9 shirt? Who else but Carroll himself. Suarez will take the famous Number 7 shirt for Liverpool. Torres, of course has filled the Number 9 jersey at Chelsea.
This day was crazy for Liverpool, Chelsea and not forgetting Newcastle. Newcastle got a sweet £35M in the bank for the Summer. Liverpool spent the money they made off Torres already, and Chelsea spent £70m with no return. I wish all the players and teams good luck and I hope Carroll and Suarez work well together. Torres, keep your head down when going back to Liverpool to collect your stuff. Newcastle, have a drink on yourself.
